The medium bulb of yam/kanda to be cut into big pieces n along with the small quantity of tamarind n with a pinch of turmeric, cooked pressure in a pressure cooker until two whistles to become soft. bachali or basella to be washed thoroughly and cut it very fine.

1/2 tbs mustard seeds, 1-inch ginger, 4 green chillies to be made as the paste in the blender to be added to the curry once it is done.


  • 1-1/2 tbs gingelly oil
  • 1/2 tbs chana dal
  • 1/2 tbs urad dal
  • 1/4 tbs mustard seeds
  • a few strands of cumin seeds
  • 2 red chillies
  • cashewnuts are optional
  • 1/2 tbs mustard seeds
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 4 green chillies

Heat oil

stir it until it turns out brown
